Something that’s fascinating to me is that there are things we don’t know about Bob, mostly regarding the timeline of his life prior to him waking up in the vault and the exact timeline of Project Sentry

Things we know/can infer:

Avengers Tower was sold to a third party (one we now know to be OXE group) in 2016, as Happy was moving the last of its contents out of the building during the end of Spider-Man Homecoming, which in turn was shortly after the events of CACW.

Here’s where things get murky and speculative:

Lewis Pullman was born in 1993, so let’s say for the sake of argument that Bob was also born the same year. We don’t know if his job as a fried chicken promoter (where he had his meth episode) was a high school or college job, though my gut feeling is that it was a job he had after graduating high school (if indeed he even finished high school).

The Snap occurred in 2018, and everyone who was blipped as a result was brought forward five years to 2023 (though as we see with Yelena, they perceived it happening instantaneously). This is also the same time the OG avengers team fractured—ignoring those who were added to the team in subsequent phases, Tony and Natasha were dead, Clint was more or less retired, Banner and the Hulk had merged, and Thor had left Earth. This is undoubtedly the point where Valentina realized she had to create a protector for the earth so that someone like Thanos wouldn’t be an issue again—“there’s a bad guy and a worse guy”, after all.

By this logic and under these assumptions, Bob would’ve been 25 when the snap occurred and either still 25 when he was brought back or about 30 during the events of Endgame (depending on whether or not he blipped). Thunderbolts takes place in 2027, meaning there’s a four-year duration in which Valentina could’ve started Project Sentry, Bob could’ve joined, and was presumed dead/defective and thrown out with the rest of the project. I’m personally under the impression that Bob’s powers activating and killing the two people on the walls of the lab didn’t take all that long, meaning he could’ve been in that box for as long as three years (though I doubt it was that long)

Kinda sad that Sentry!Bob sort of remembers who the rest are (didn’t he greet them with something like “hey guys”?) but usual!Bob doesn’t remember what he did as Sentry 🥺

The Sentry!Bob turning Walker's shield into a hard-shell taco was deliberate payback for when John told him he must've "skipped arm, chest AND leg day" while trying to help him climb out of the elevator shaft and you guys can't tell me otherwise!

Bob's glare was speaking VOLUMES about how they wouldn't be ready for what he's hiding under those scrubs bc my man didn't even know what he could do himself!

His eyes roamed over you, not with hunger—but with awe, tracing the poetry in your stillness. Fingers brushed from your cheek to your hand. Your skin—soft, celestial. And in his mind bloomed the tender dream of you and him, where affection was mutual, and love was allowed. He longed to kiss you gently, to gift you with a thousand small devotions.

His eyes never sought anyone else. The first time you said his name, he memorized it like a hymn. It nestled in his memory like warm verses. Others said his name like it was a burden—but you, you spoke it like a song. Like it meant something. Your voice was heaven’s echo, even in sorrow. Especially in sorrow. Even when tears painted your cheeks and you trembled against him—he swore your voice could calm storms.

But truly, everything about you was like that—extraordinary.

And he wished—no, prayed—that maybe he could be special too.

But hell—who was he kidding? He was just a ghost in your orbit. The moon never shone for him. Even so close to you, light refused to grace him. And maybe that’s why his longing turned sharp, desperate. Because if he could not have the sun, he would become the night that holds it. If he could not bask in your light—maybe, just maybe—he could be the eclipse to your moon.

You’re not the only one who noticed this.

I mean, given how much Sentry was holding back when the rest of our ragtag group of misfits confronted him (honestly he could have done far far worse, but he didn’t, he was using like 0.1% of his full power but it was still enough to be terrifying), he seemed to hold back more for Yelena.

Which leads me to my next point… Bob, as Sentry, does say that neither Bucky, Walker, Ava, Yelena, nor Alexei pose a threat to him, and thus he has no intention to kill them despite an order to. This means he, on the higher end of his high days, still remembers who they are (with the exception of Alexei and Bucky). It is unfortunate, I think, that Bob as his usual self has no recollection of this. But it’s also a good thing that none of them hold this against him.

For a young man who had discovered earlier that he is in fact bulletproof, it should have come to no surprise that not even Yelena’s Widow Bites could shock him. I’d wager he didn’t even feel that, perhaps it was a faint tickle to him at best. Did Bob as Sentry show more restraint when dealing with Yelena because he remembered that she meant him no harm? 🤔

ok, but why aren't we talking about how sentry was clearly gentler with yelena than with the others?

when she jumped on him and for a moment he was considering how to handle her and then when he flew up to get her off his back but then caught her before she hit the floor and tossed her away with obvious restraint???
